Steve was born in Biddeford, Maine as the last son of six children to parents, Guston LaFlamme and Mignone Labbe, first generation French Canadians. He attended the University of Maine in Augusta, and in 1986, Steve moved away from Maine.
He began his career in the electrical contracting field while working for California Pools in El Monte. After two years of serving as an apprentice, Steve was promoted to managing the company’s electrical division. While living in California he attended ITT Technical Institute.
In 1990, Steve married Lisa Peterson and earned his California electrical license. A year later their first child, Chelsea, was born. In the same year, he formed his own company, Inland Empire Electric.
Steve relocated his family to Georgia in 1996 where he obtained his Georgia electrical license. The next year he and Lisa welcomed their son, Ian. This same year, Patrick, his brother, joined him in forming Brothers Electric. Ten years later Steve and Patrick decided to go in different directions, and Steve formed LaFlamme Enterprise, LLC.
During his time in Georgia, Steve has installed electrical services and components in thousands of homes in dozens of subdivisions around the metro
Atlanta area, along with installations in offices, warehouses, restaurants and more.
Steve crossed paths with Seth Chandlee and Jim Chandlee in 2008. He persistently bid on their projects with his dedication paying off when his company out-bid the others. LaFlamme Enterprises has worked on a variety of Chandlee construction projects since then including some of those produced for television.
In September 2017, after discussions and negotiations back and forth, Steve merged his electrical firm into Chandlee Electric – thus bringing himself and his staff under the Chandlee Holdings umbrella. The first joint staff meeting was held September 19 with Steve as Chief Operations Officer of Chandlee Electric – history in the making.
Steve is also an accomplished wood worker and recording artist. Although he has not had time to release any recordings yet, who knows what is over the horizon. Steve and his family live in Kennesaw.
